Finally Final

Adoption finalization

Life sure tests us with patience.  We've had to wait years to find our children.  Then in the process of actually finalizing their place in our family we've had to wait an extra year for both girls.  Somehow I guess we aren't learning the lesson too well ;)
Even the day of solidifying things we had to wait HOURS longer than it should have been for finalization!!

It just makes me laugh.  I know I'm a very impatient person, so I guess I have to keep learning this lesson.

The day finally came, exactly a year longer than anticipated, to finalize Bryelle's adoption!!!

We were so excited to head to the court house and make Bryelle a Kirk FOREVER!!  We debated whether bringing the other kids with us, and in the end wanted to make it a family affair.  The process doesn't take long, and we wanted all the kids there...
Or so we thought.

We arrived ready to see the judge and proceed.  Our attorney had to be out of town, so his partner stepped in.  We met him and he told us that the judge was out to lunch because it was secretary's day.  And they weren't going to be back for an hour.  It was after 1:00 and we hadn't eaten lunch either.  We decided to just wait and eat lunch as soon as we were done.

The hour turned into two.  Then we were told the judge had returned but was still behind from the morning cases and we wouldn't be seen for another hour and a half!!!
The kids were going crazy and were entertaining people who weren't looking for entertainment ;)  Running the halls, bumping into the chairs, climbing the window sills, playing horsey...
It was super frustrating :)

We decided to bail and headed over to Dairy Queen for some food to appease our grumbling tummies, and have a change of scenery for the kids.  Our fill-in attorney informed us he had other appointments and had to leave, so we were brushed off to a third attorney!  ha.  They were all fabulous though and we appreciated their help.
So we returned, and 4 hours after our appointed time, with another new attorney,
WE FINALIZED!!!

Here are some of my favorite Instagram pics.  What a special day.  We are so blessed and love Bree so much!!  We are anticipating, even more, taking her to the temple and sealing her to our family for eternity!  June 28th.

BRYELLE RAELEE KIRK forever!!

The following Sunday the 27th we blessed Bryelle in church.  Another very special experience for us.  Daddy gave her a beautiful blessing as I held her in my arms sitting in a chair at the front of the chapel.  She didn't make a peep.  She sat in awe wondering what was going on as the tears streamed down my face.
