Tonight went well.
We finally had the convo!
You know, learning about the lovely bird's and bee's...
We heard it is good to give them the news when they are 8 years old. However, we didn't feel that was right for Tanner. So we waited until we knew Tanner could handle this important issue with maturity and understanding.
And today was the day!
(9 years old)
We had built it up a few days before, telling him we had something really special to tell him! The book says we should make it "exciting" and so forth. However, I didn't feel good about playing it up too much, you know, that only leaves room for a lot of let down.
So we just made sure he knew it was something very important.
Tanner was receptive and giddy.
It was so cute to see his purity and innocence.
He started out laughing and silly (when he saw the nakey pics ;)
but quickly calmed down honestly wanting to learn and comprehend. He had good questions and was really responsive. It was cute to see him shocked about how it really happens!
He's so adorable. His verbage has always been "with love." So if people are "with love" they can have a baby. He has asked me several times why I can't have a baby because dad and I are
with so much love!!
It's just precious. Isn't that how it should be!?
Pure, clean, and precious love is what creates a baby.
Unfortunately that's not the process and Tanner was shocked to learn that tonight.
It felt good we were able to tell him FIRST before his friends, or a movie or some skewed version the world offers.

We think it set the foundation for the rest of his life.
He will talk to us and trust us with any questions or concerns in the future. That is one thing I've always loved about Tanner, his ability to come to us about anything. I'm so grateful we've built that relationship with him.
The talk turned into something really special and spiritual.
That's how it's intended. Our bodies and the creation of life is truly a miracle our Heavenly Father has blessed us with and we intend to it remain something sacred and treasured.

Good job, very impressive. I'll follow your lead when it's time for us to do "the talk." Glad we still have a couple years. :)
Way to go. Sounds like it was a special time for all of you. You guys are such good parents. Love you!
