Keeping my eyes open

He WAS my baby.
He WAS in my arms yesterday...wasn't he?
He IS my life.
I blinked and 5.5 years went by.
How did that happen?
Now 6 months have quickly slipped away.
I need time to stop, I just can NOT get enough of her!!!!
Please eyes, remain open.
I don't want to blink any more.

Sorry...but you asked for it!

Playing airplane with a baby is like playing with fire...
you're going to get burnt.
(or spit up on ☺)
Sure makes for some cute pictures though
they make my heart melt

when the weather tells our story

Sunshine and Smiles. Exhilaration on our childrens faces. Simplicity. Playing in the crispness of a fresh day. Enjoying the beauty around us. Inevitable happy hearts. No worries.

Strumming your shovel like a guitar and seeing the world through the eyes of a 5 year old. Priceless. Life is good. Life is pure.

Enjoying the journey ahead. Looking at each new day with hope. Anticipating the road has turns and bumps, but taking on each challenge. Basking in the warmth of the sun. Not searching for the destination, but enjoying the journey. Looking for the good in everything. Optimism.
In an instant...a raging storm is birthed.
Clouds loom in a black sky ruining the perfect day, or happy life.
Nothing to do but bundle up. Put on your hoodie. Embrace it.
Threatening surroundings cause fear...but beauty comes with change. Bleekness, chilling air and danger create a powerful appreciation for the sunshine that illuminated yesterday. Find the light that lies in the shadows. It's there.
Hope is instilled for the rise of the sun tomorrow.
How is good appreciated if we don't recognize distress. Be grateful for contrast. For opposition. Rainbows come after the storm. Sometimes the most beautiful blessings come after our most difficult trials. The dark blistering storms that loom for hours or days, are the storms that nourish the earth to build it's magnificence. The rain brings freshness in the air and feeds the grass to give it life. The clouds divide in preparation for a ray of sunshine that can heal the soul and bring JOY unimaginable.
Storms beget a warmer day.
Endure the tempest...the sun will ALWAYS come out.
Let it fortify YOU.
Then let it feed your soul.
And remember again the warmth of the sun.

solving the mysteries of life

Ann is awesome. She is probably 40 something. I grew up in the same ward as her (her kids were a little younger than me) and she is just a character! You know...the loud boisterous, funny, always happy, friendly outgoing kind. Ya can't help but LOVE her. The other day on face book she had me cracking up.
She admitted the unadmittable.
is that a word?
She told the world she DID NOT know what scallions were.
SERIOUSLY!
Brave.
Gutsy.
The awesome thing though was I DID NOT know what they were either. Then my sister commented that she DID NOT know as well. Then another common friend of ours DID NOT know EITHER!! And even MORE people commented that they had just barely learned what they were as well!!!!
It was AWESOME.
However, a few "know it all's" raved about their knowledge of scallions. Boo hiss on them. They think they know everything. ☺ So...let me show you what the heck these stupid things we call scallions ARE!!
I know you're dying to find out.
TAH DAH:

Those are scallions. Now I don't want to confuse you.

Stay with me people.

You're wondering..."then what the heck are the things below?"

These my friends are green onions. YES. I know. I know what you're thinking. YES.

Anticlimactic.

THEY ARE THE SAME FRIGGIN' THING!!!!

This is knew info right!? Vege's 101...NOT. Puh-lease. This is Vege's 901.

Ann finally googled it because she was sick of not knowing what the heck they were! Why can't they just be called GREEN ONIONS? I don't get it. Why complicate things. Who the heck loser person even changed the name?

Anyways. I just wanted to help you out too. Some things in life are so confusing. At least we have one of them straightened out. UNLESS. Are you one of those "know it all's?"

Did you already know this? Seriously. Come on. Fess up. And if so...big capital W. Whateva!!

shin splints and sunburns

Today was just perfect.
HEAVEN
I tell ya.
70 degree weather...and we enjoyed every second of it.
My friends and I decided to go hike some stairs and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful lake.
I packed up Kam in the Bjorn and we headed out for an adventure that led to
shin splints and sunburns.
AND.
It was totally worth it!!
Here is the death defying staircase that's only a fraction of what we hiked UP the mountain. It kicked my booty I must say. I'm only a little bit out of shape.
bwaaa ha haaaa.
There's an awesome castle at the top of the hike that used to stand tall, but was destroyed by a fire and now only has the brick remnants to enjoy.
A beautiful view from the top!
What a perfect day, with perfect weather and perfect friends.
I'm ready for another just like it!
