a turtle's life

We interrupt this Caribbean cruise broadcast to show you the life of a turtle!

This once unsuspecting turtle thought he had the life in the lush jungle of our front yard...until a 6 year old boy found him and wanted to make him his pet
for life!
The sweet turtle escaped the jaws of death from the monstrous weed wacker! Thank heavens my husband saved his life (after almost taking it).
Thus, the reason for the bloody pictures.
The life of a turtle is an adventurous one!
Living in the jungles of Missouri and then becoming domesticated at the hands of children can be overwhelming. But this adorable turtle is taking it in strides.
Imagine your home being picked up at any given moment, rolled around, turned upside down, stroked over and over again, poked at by a one year old... thus the reason they have a HARD SHELL!
He's enduring well.
This tiny tender turtle was then given a bath by a sweet 6 year old who was looking after his needs, concerned about his bloody mouth and his grassy shell.
(Kam was nervous at first, didn't really know what to think of this "thing" and then finally touched it!)
After the intrigued children gazed at the awe inspiring, death defying turtle, he decided to do some magic tricks for them, entertaining them all the more!
Who knew turtles were so dynamic.
Welcome to your lavish home Charlie! Made of sticks to climb across, grass to eat, water to swim in, a hut to shade you and carrots to gnaw on. We hope these accommodations are appropriate. (because to a 6 year old they were essential ☺)
You're so cute!

formal is fun

One more formal night...but we're not even that formal!
I don't have any PROM dresses, they are all at my mom's house.
Don't know if they would even fit anymore.
Makes me think of the time my friend and I (Charissa) had a fashion show with all the dresses we owned!!
(4 girls in my household=lots of dresses)
Good times!

Anyways, back to formal night...we had to have a little photo shoot of course.

This one below is my ALL TIME FAVORITE PICTURE.

These boys are the cutest stinkin things in the world! And they're MINE!

Then we did a few more serious ones ;)
Landon with his dad and sister!
my parents of course
Over are the fun times. Beginning are the stressful times...
Dinner was always HARD!
Kam was messy, whiney and crazy.
Everyone else got to sit back and LAUGH. Oh ha ha ha...how funny it WASN'T.
Hardy har har...glad we could provide endless entertainment.
(especially for these two below. lol)
I'm getting them back though. They have to watch Kam for 8 days in June while I frolick in Mexico. We'll see who's still laughing then.
Bwaaahahahaha.
Kam wanted kisses from her daddy...she kept pulling his face in.
Precious!
Kam got two scoops of ice cream every night for being such a good girl!
NOT.
She got two scoops of ice cream every night to keep her
sitting down and quiet!!
All in all it was a lovely evening with dresses, ties, food, family and all!

all dressed up and no where to go

Well, not tonight!

We had somewhere to go... a formal dinner on the cruise!

It's kind of a pain to bring dress up clothes and pack them perfectly enough that they don't get wrinkled and ruined in your suitcase...
but when you don't party, you don't attend PROM anymore, you don't go to big events that allow you the opportunity to dress up (besides church), the cruise event is one that is actually kind of fun!
Sunday night was our first formal night of the trip. It was also MOTHER'S DAY!
My dear sweet husband came up with a wonderful idea as a gift to us mothers...
Not be a mother for the night. lol
He suggested all the boys take the kids at the large table and let the girls eat in peace!! I was thrilled.
It was a fabulous idea to me!
Kambrie is a maniac at meal times. That's an understatement too people.
(granted, it is a long night waiting for our three course meals which usually ended up being 6-7 course meals cuz we ordered whatever the heck we wanted! yum yum)
Sunday was a special day for me!!
I was lucky enough to spend Mother's day with my fabulous mom whom I love and adore. She means the world to me! And I was grateful to have my kids on this trip with us, and give them a huge hug and kiss. They are all I ever wanted. I'm so thankful, so lucky, so glad I'm their mom!!
What a fun memorable day.
