my mother

A blog I read was doing a give-away this weekend for an adorable necklace. We had to submit someone who we thought deserved it...and without hesitation I nominated
MY MOTHER.
I'm so excited next Sunday I actually get to spend Mother's Day with her! I don't think I've done that for a long time.
For the chance at the give-away, we had to write why we chose our nominee. The words came effortlessly as I gave my synopsis of the greatest mom on the planet:
What a beautiful necklace! Without hesitation I nominate my mother. As I've struggled with the process of becoming a mother myself (infertility) and finally having my own miracle come true through adoption, I now realize the sacrifices and never ending love that my mother has for ME and my siblings. I always knew what an amazing mother she was, but now I understand what an amazing mother she IS! She has given me the world, and I don't know how to give it back to her. She's a friend, a confidant, an example and I'm so thankful I can call her MY MOTHER. She gives her time, talents and energy to continue filling her role as mother and grandmother.
One significant event I draw on often that reflects her dedication as a mother was a few years ago we adopted a baby and unfortunately it fell through. To have a baby in your arms that you thought was yours, only to be taken away leaves a wound so deep it's intricately painful to heal...but my mom (and dad) were our rocks. They were there every step of the way giving us emotional, spiritual, and financial support...whatever we needed. I will forever be grateful for what they gave us. It has left an indelible impression on my heart.
Mother is synonymous with sacrifice, and that's what she does.
I love my mom with every fiber of my being and wish one day I could be the kind of woman that SHE is! I would love to present her with this token of motherhood that symbolizes where her heart lies.

I didn't win the necklace for my mom (bummer). But I feel like such a winner of blessings every day as I feel the love in my life from my mother. She is an example that has taught me how to show love and patience to my children. She's my buoy when there's times I'm sinking, she's the sunrays beaming on a cloudy day, she's the angel in my life that has filled my heart so I can in return fill others.
Mom, I tear up as I write this because I'm so grateful for everything about YOU. Thanks for giving me life, love, and pointing me in the direction of happiness.
I LOVE YOU!

Happy Easter!

...but it actually feels like my birthday, or mother's day!
I just feel so lucky, these two are so flippin' cute I can't stand it!
These stinkers wouldn't cooperate together...
so we did individual pictures.
ADORABLE
if I do say so myself!

She's so stylin'

The other day Kambrie came out of my bathroom looking like this:
Landon and I were dying laughing! We loved her my headbands, and that she was checking herself out in the mirror.
She obviously liked the way she looked. ☺

Oh how I LOVE her!

Annual girls trip!

Every year we do a girls trip with my sisters and mom...hopefully everyone can make it, but it's not always the case. This year Jaylynn and Shauna weren't able to come, and they were sorely missed.

We all have such AWESOME hubbies who let us get-away for a relaxing fun-filled weekend, while they hold down the fort and do a fabulous Mr mom job!!
San Antonio was our destination this year. And it ROCKED! I totally loved it. Besides the scorching heat, I would love to live there.
So, what is a girls trip without:
A visit to The Alamo while strolling through downtown and enjoying the festivities. (and being stocked by some dude who called us Charlies Angels!)
free drinks to drown us from the heat
AND
What is a girls trip without:
strolling ALONG the riverwalk, eating at a FABULOUS restaurant OFF the riverwalk, and then taking a boat ride ON the riverwalk!!
Happy birthday Andrea!
and that was the best guacamole in the world...hands down
What is a girls trip without:
visiting your brother's workplace
(seriously though, it actually was cool. USAA rocks)
Okay, back on course...
What is a girls trip without:
working on our tan's
(I don't even have one to begin with)
and watching your brother play with his child and enjoying that it's not you for once!
Of course
What is a girls trip without:
visiting the temple, and remembering what life is all about
What is a girls trip without:
eating, eating and eating to your hearts content
Spoon It. YUMMMMM.
Cracker Barrell. YUMMMMM.
Carrabbas. YUMMMMM.
this fetuccine is HEAVEN I tell ya
Hello, we have not forgotten...
What is a girls trip without:
Shopping.
Shopping.
Shopping.
and STILL not having enough time from sun up to sun down
And lastly,
What is a girls trip without:

Relaxing.

Enjoying each other's company.

Vegging.

Eating junk food.

Laughing your guts out.

Enjoying every moment.

Watching movies.

Lounging in PJ's.

Fashion shows of new clothes.

Making a late night run for more SPOON IT!

Making memories to last a lifetime.

I don't know what a girls trip without these things would be like. I imagine pretty boring!!
WE LOVE OUR GIRLS TRIPS!!!!!!
